0.4 space uses beyond obvious

What are the uses for 0.4 beyond ratting and mining as it relates to the risk/reward model?

Sorry, I can't agree with the last poster, that losec space is "useless". Sounds more like someone is lacking experience, motivation, creativity, or some combination, possibly even all three.

Risk versus reward is subjective and even objectively is dependent upon the ability of the risk-taker. What is of greater risk to an uninformed and unpracticed pilot might be easy-cheesy to another.

By using a simple cloak, brains, timing, and an occasional scout, I have successfully run two of five planets in losec for planetary interaction since PI was introduced, before ever skilling into a covops or transport ship, and I've never once lost a ship doing my PI there. I can personally attest that the planetary yield is significantly better in losec. I will be moving the majority if not all of my planets to losec, now that I am skilling into a transport ship.

Exploration sites tend to be overrun in highsec, but more plentiful in losec. Losec is filled with market opportunities for those who can take advantage of them. Losec provides many shortcuts through empire space, which, for traders traveling by shuttle, allow a larger scale of business otherwise too time consuming. For manufacturers, saving time and money by using losec stations to improve ME of BPOs is indispensable. Ratting in .1 space is not comparable to the rewards found from running lvl 4s, but it's not bad, a hell of a lot more fun, and instead of being locked into hours long engagements, you can run smaller, bite-sized engagements to your heart's content.

If you are vigilant, cautious, and know how to use your bookmarks, directional scan, and cloak, you really have little excuse for losing a ship in losec, most of the time. Granted, it's not 100% risk-free, but you can minimize risks such that they are cost-effective, to the tune of substantial profit (in terms of fun and ISK), and that's the defining quality of risk vs. reward. For an intelligent, competent, motivated player, losec is ripe with opportunity.

nothing. lowsec in general sucks, even .01 for ratting and mining. the risks far outweigh the gains and it is pretty much useless as space itself. the only thing that makes lowsec good is the PvP, and the lowsec missions like faction warfare and level 5 missions.
