Advice required: I want to Bounty Hunt..how can I do that?

Ok, first I have to admit I have been in EVE since 2004 and I have seen very little combat (I am a hangar whore). I have been in a few large fleet battles but I did not last long, not because of skill points or skill point allocation but more because I hate losing ships because I am very far from rich and every loss costs me a lot of time to recover and since I am inexperienced, I tend to get worked over a lot. I have read all of the tutorials and “I think” I have a solid understanding of how combat works but reading never compares to actual combat.

With that said, my character is very specialized; I do not have one trade skill, industry or corporation management. I only fly Minmatar; all ships below black ops and Marauder are at level 5. I have 100% skills in Shield and Armor tanking and all of my projectiles are level 5 besides capitols and over all, decent missile skills, and 180 skills 90 are at level 5.

Please understand I am not giving all of these stats to “gloat” or “show-off” but so that the person (or persons’) providing advice can get an accurate background on my combat capabilities. I have a lot of questions so if you guys don’t mind being patient with me I will bullet point them.

  1. If I have a bounty on a player do I have the right to lock him up without being “Concorded” in secure space?

  2. If I have a bounty on a player is he notified of this bounty and can he lock me up without being Concorded as well?

  3. If I have a friend with me does he have to pick up the bounty as well? (so that he is not Concorded)

  4. If I attack a player with a bounty will I become hostile to other players in his corp or just in his group?

  5. What ships of my Minmatar background would you suggest for such a task since I have so little combat experience but I am now willing to lose so that I can become a better pilot?

  6. In most cases will myself and another player (who will be equipped to rep me) be enough for me to take on 2-3 players at once? (I know this is a situational based on skill and skill points but I thought I would ask)

7.How do I track down the players? 8. Is this even worth it?

Thanks in advance for your replies and any advice/suggestions you with to add would be more than welcomed.

If by bounty hunt you mean bounties offered in Bounty Office, then the answer is you don't actually want to do it, since it's broken.

  1. In order to get a bounty for a person you have to podkill him. And CONCORD still considers it a crime.
  2. If someone has high bounty on him, he simply undocks and his alt or corpmate kills him collecting that bounty.
  3. If someone keeps bounty on himself, that's just a badge showing how badass he is.

  1. No
  2. No
  3. No
  4. Entire corp
  5. Try asking this as a separate question. Use a lot of ships, see what works.
  6. Depends on what they are flying. Its a 50/50 proposition. If you are new this falls off some. I tend to like UN fair fights. :) Bring more people.
  7. There are agents you can look up people with.
  8. Hell no

Sorry, but bounty hunting is NOT a profession at the moment. (no matter what CCP says) it should be fixed soonTM.

What you should understand is that : bounty hunting system is heavily broken, untill CCP figures out how to make it viable / profitable ;)

It still can be profitable to get as "target of opportunity" people with high bounty on their head. But as mentioned : requires to pod them, which might be quite difficult.

Also you might find yourself fighting a complete gang of pirates when you expected only one of them.

Duno if there are weathered bounty hunters around, but I wouldn't consider this as a viable profession.

7-8/ agents can help you find the people you're looking for. And no, as previously said => I doubt it's profitable as a regular profession.

But opportunities can arise, of course.
