After jumping ship auto warps 100k km from gate in random direction?

After going through a jump gate ship auto warps 100k km from gate in random direction, I do not have auto pilot activated when this happens. The instant my ship comes into new space it warps, and I cannot stop it. Has happened with multiple ships, in different systems. It has even happened while I was warping fleet, and another fleet ship did the same thing.

Any reasons or similar things happen to you?

I might have, on a very few occasions, had this happen to me, too, for no rhyme or reason in recent history. I look forward to any posted responses on this.

duno why it’s happening, but it sure is nice to evade gatecamps :D

Curious…never heard of this before let alone had it happen to me…looking forward to some definite facts about it. Blobbed gates is an interesting theory but I’ve jumped into hundreds of ships before a ton of times (both friendly and not lol) and never noticed it.

It is not nice to avoid gatecamps with it AT ALL. You return and land just where you entered warp, 20 km from gate, possibly right on the interceptor who dashed to get you in the first time. And they will see you dropping out of warp and have a lot of time to prepare anyway.

Although you may be right, it doesn’t always warps you back, half of the time I stare into “Jumping to Whatever solar system” message for 30 sec and then left on my own one million km from the gate. And another half is the same 30+ seconds and I see myself warping to the gate in this Whatever solar system. Whatever it may be. I can’t recall this happening in Jita or Amarr, it always happens with me in rather unpopulated or completely unpopulated solar systems. Maybe, something linked with server cluster priorities?

It happened with me quite a few times. I think something(sub-optimal internet connection, maybe, mine is plain bad) loses a bit of data, and server thinks that you logged off and warps your ship away. But then it "finds" you again and warps you back.

I do have a pretty poor connection, that sounds like it is the problem.

This can happen in high lag situations. Upon jumping into a system and the grid fails to load after a period of a minute or two the ships emergency warp out before logging off.

Of course this can happen for other reasons such as poor net connection resulting in packet loss between your machine and the server (as mentioned by Serker) or in de-sync situations when trying to load a gate grid.

If none of these apply to you I would be interested to understand why, the coding in Eve is far from perfect, but I haven't had emergency warps for no reason as yet, but then I am only a hundred yards from our exchange.

i tried this on the test server a few times doing mass-tests, when we were like 300 people trying to jump at the same time. it seems to be a safety for not having everyone appear at the gate in one big blob.

as for the real cause... i am not really sure... a little more info about where and when it happened would maybe help getting a better answer

I have this problem all the time. My guess its to my internet connection as im using satalite internet and it was alot worse when i was on dial-up. so my guess it has something to do with your internet connection and your grid loading.

Maybe your capacitor was too low to complete the warp. If it was, then the drive will warp you as far as it can, which might be just short of the gate, or somewhere in the mittle of nowhere.

Happened to me a couple of times like that.
