angelic choir effect?

I heard this choir-like chant building to a crescendo when a titan jumped on grid with my ship. Is this new? I have been on grid and DDd by a titan before, but never heard this noise. Is this something new or is this something I enabled somewhere in my settings?

Guess a titan driver might be needed to answer definitively…

This is a pure guess, but since no one else seems to know here goes...

I'm guessing this was added at the same time as the sound notifications for events relating to sovereignty. I noticed that there is a sound notification when sov structures and stations reach a new timer now. The Titan sound effect was probably added at the same time, though I've not actually noticed that particular sound effect myself.

Sound effects are volume controlled according to the distance you are away from the source of the sound. If you zoom away from your ship, you can not hear many of the ship sound effects (which is strange as your ears are within the ship, and sound isn't supposed to be able to travel across space!! :) )

I am guessing that this is the first time your camera was close to a Titan when it jumped, or whatever caused the sound effect? I am guessing it was an Avatar (the Amarr titan), as many of the Amarr related sound affects tend towards religious themes. I must admit I have never been close enough to a titan to take any notice of its sound effects because I am usually running away or surrounded by many other ships all trying to kill another large group of ships.

Personally, I would have expected this sound effect to be associated with the new super weapons attached to Amarr titans, rather than their jump drives. You mentioned the doomsday device, so was the super weapon firing when you heard the sound effect? Did an on-grid capital ship suddenly disappear in a big explosion?

In the next patch there is a change that says the internal station sounds reduce in volume the longer you are within that station. It is only a small note in the patch notes, and, if the sound effect was related to the jump drive, maybe a similar note appeared elsewhere in previous patch notes to do with titan jump drives?

I’ve tried googling for “Titan sound effects” etc. but with little luck. Thing is you rarely know a Titan is going to jump in until he is there, so it’s sort of hard to test. Guess we have something to do for the next lvl 5 event on SiSi, whenever that may be :P

I was within 20K of it; it was an Avatar. It was the jump in and appearance… no weapon fire or DD – which I have heard before, however briefly :). It sounded lie the level-up note if you’ve ever played Dragon Age.
