Are scan signature ID's static?

There is a system that I regularly scan things down in, and I run into the problem of re-scanning a signature that I had already found yesterday because I don't know that its the same. I noted today that all of the signatures have ID's, so I was wondering; Do the signature ID's stay the same or do they change if the signature itself is not different?

If they are indeed static, then I plan to name the bookmark to include the ID so that I know which ones I have already found.

If the cosmic signature (and cosmic anomaly) is the exact same one you saw the previous time, then the ID will be identical. You can name your BMs with the ID and share the BMs with your corpmates so people do not have to probe out all the same cosmic sigs everytime.

If the cosmic signature changes (WH expires, or site is completed, etc.) then the ID will probably not be seen again in the same system, unless by some random fluke.

Each signature and indeed ship in a system has a unique ID which will stay the same until the following downtime.

It is indeed a good policy to name scanned signatures.

My usual bookmarking convention.

"MagSite/Guristas XXX/DQH-567/19-10-10:18.00/DED 6/10"

So site type, site name, sig ID, date and time scanned, signature difficulty.

This actual bookmark is FUBAR and couldn't exist, but you get the picture.

In my experience, the IDs remain constant both sides of downtime too as long as it is the same signature. For ships, the ID changes everytime the pilot leaves the ship.

Yes, but only if it’s still there after D/T as most Sigs change at D/T this is why you get the change. But yes if the sig is identical then it will keep the same ID.
