Are there ways to increase the amount of drones you can control at one time?

Can I get more drones to fly at once?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer:

With all sub-capital ships (we'll ignore the unique ships like the Guardian-Vexor), the number of controlled drones is limited to your Drones skill level. So training Drones to level 5 will give you maximum drones.

Capital ships can fit a Drone Control Unit and may have ship bonuses to the number of controlled drones.

You are also limited by the drone bay size and the drone bandwidth available to your ship, of course. e.g. The Kronos can only fly three Ogre IIs (heavy drones) due to the bandwidth required, but can fly five Hobgoblin IIs otherwise (which are the light drones).

Carriers can run 15 w/ max skills and Drone Control Units, Super Carriers can run 25 w/ max skills and Drone Control Units.

Yes, and these guys have missed it.

Carriers: Sure get Advance Drone Interfaceing, drop some Drone Control Units on there, get up to 15 drones on a carrier, 25 on a super carrier.

Ship: Find one of the 3 surviving Guardian Vexors. They use a very old bonus of +1 drone per level instead of +10% drone dmg per level, as used now.

Buddies: Get into a ship with targeting weapons (missiles or guns), deploy your drones. Have your buddies deploy their drones. Next have them right click their drone squad and select "Assist/RedMage" however pick your name instead of mine. This will allow you to essentially have +5 drones per buddy assisting you on everything you shoot.

(This is a super trick when doing sanctums/havens with sentries deployed.)
