Smartbombs are activated from your ship and radiate outwards in a ring. They will not damage your ship but will damage anything else friendly or foe withing their radius. Be very careful playing with smartbombs in Highsec(.5 and higher) because if you hit anybody that that is not a legal target concord will show up and quickly relieve you of your ship by way of wtfbbqpwnage.

If by chance you are mistaken and are thinking of a bomb that is launched from a Stealthbomber then yes if you are in the blast zone when it explodes you will take damage and may even blow yourself up.

Feeding off of Mark LT's answer, your drones (if deployed) can also be damaged if in the area of effect. Keep them safe by making sure they are attacking a target out of the blast radius, or safe in your drone bay.

I think you are mixing up Smartbombs and Bombs. Bombs are deployed from Bomb launchers in the direction your ships is facing and will explode after 30km. Smartbombs (Small, Medium, Large) can be fitted on any hull class and once activated send out a radiance damage around your ship.

In theory you can be hit by your own smartbomb if you manage to overtake it after launch.
