I know that ships suck as jymp freighters and super caps can't use gate.
is this allso the case with a simple carrier
i know it can dock so i thought it maybe could use a gate as well.

Jump Freighters, along with normal Freighters and Orcas CAN use gates. I know this for fact having done it myself.
All other caps, ie. Carriers, Dreadnoughts, Super-Carriers (Motherships), Titans and Rorquals CANNOT use gates.
There is an attribute in the ship's show info window called "cantusestargates" that will tell you this info. A value of 1 for this attribute means that it cannot use gates.
Please don't think this sucks as these ships can cross several systems in a single jump although of course you need a cynosural field at the destination to lock onto. This also means you don't get caught in gatecamps!
