Choosing NPC Corp for running missions

Asked by

I need to chose an agent to do missions. Which NPC corp should I pick the agent from?

Like Concord, Sisters of EvE, Astral Mining, etc.... Are there any specific advantages of chosing one over the other?

Thanks for any advice :)

Smaller corps will give you standings in that corp faster than lager corps. This is seen with the standing increase function:

Corp standing increase = Agent standing increase * Agent efficiency / corp size
Agent efficiency = 0.01 * ((8 * Agent level) + (0.1 * Agent quality) - 4)

This, however has the flip side of fewer agents meaning longer jumps between improving agents.

Another factor to consider is does the corporation provide services you want?

If you are a trader / market type you will want standings with the corporations that own the stations used as trade hubs to reduce taxes.

If you are an industrialist you likely want to improve the standing with the corp that you will be using to make your goods - the higher the standing the lower the production fees.

If you are doing long term missioning, look at the higher end agents of the type you want to work for and consider their location. You would rather not mission for a corp to find out all of their good agents are out in low or null sec if you want to be a high sec missioner.

Related to industrialists, are you looking to do R&D? There are a limited number of corporations for each faction that do R&D.

Does the corp have medical facilities for jump clones? This will make life easier if you ever want one.

Does the player corp you are in work 'twards a specific npc corp? Things such as office rent are partially determined by standings.

Consider the location of the closest faction storyline agent. Is it with a corp that you want to work up or don't care about? Is it a division you want to do a storyline with?

Grismar's eve explorer can provide detailed searches on agents (or stations and corps). For example:

  • Show agents
  • In system with security of .. >= 0.5
  • With level .. = 4
  • Offering mission of type .. courier
  • In station owned by faction with name containing .. minmatar

This will give you a listing of all high security minmatar L4 courier agents.

One suggestion may be to concentrate on location more than a particular agent. If you can find several agents in a single station that you have access to, then you can feel comfortable declining a mission as there are other agents to ask. (You can only decline a mission from the same agent once every four hours, otherwise you lose standings.)

www.Eve-Agents.com is always the first stop when searching for an agent.

If you choose a corp that offers R&D agents then you can gain access to R&D more quickly, datacores are a convenient source of 'passive' isk, but require some sp/isk investment in skills.

Other than that just choose agents that are convenient for you, the higher quality the better, eventually you'll have sufficient faction standings to fly missions for the agents in all corps associated with your faction.

What is the goal behind your mission running?

If you are after Loyalty Point items, be sure to check the items available in the corporation's loyalty point store. There is no point in doing hundreds of missions only to learn the Loyalty Points can buy nothing directly useful to your character.

If you want Jump Clones, try and pick a corporation that own stations widely spread throughout the universe. This will make placing of your clones a lot simpler.

If you are after Faction Standings, be sure to check the kinds of agents available. Its faster to do 16 level 4 courier missions then it is 16 level 4 combat missions. When trying to farm missions for faction standings, speed is everything.

If you are running missions for the money, also look closely at the agent types available. Combat missions in particular can give a very high amount of ISK per mission once bounties, salvage, and looted items are considered.

Its also worth considering the enemy factions of your intended NPC corporation. For example, if you do to many combat missions against Caldari and your standing with Caldari drops below -5, the Caldari military will attack you when you enter their space. This is not a good thing if you intend to frequent Jita.

If you're after a jump clone, make sure the corp you run for has at least one convenient (usually means high-sec) station with a cloning bay... Not Lai Dai ;-).
