I'm looking for a good training plan for a cov-ops alt. Does anyone have any good suggestions on it? I've been working on one myself, I'm just not sure if I'm optimising it as best as is possible.

It is subject to personal opinion in many ways, but here is an example I have used for a pilot to fly a Buzzard to both seek out empire war targets and for some nefarious deeds that I will not admit to even considering here.

After completing that queue, you want to concentrate on Astrometrics (to lvl 5), Astrometrics Rangefinding (to lvl 4), Astrometrics Acquistion (to lvl 4) and Astromatrics Pinpointing (to lvl 4). This will enable more success with the scan probes.
Then concentrate on the frigate combat skills and the Salvaging, Hacking and Archaeology skills to enable you to deal with high-sec exploration sites which is a common use for newbie CovOps pilots.
I would focus on probing skills before training CovOps 5. Lvl 4 skill is enough for most applications, but scanning skills are important if you want to get warpable hits.
I found that lvl 4 Covert Ops was not enough for a newb CovOps pilot unless you trained all the electronics, electronics upgrades, etc. It is quicker (just) to train Covert Ops to lvl 5, then work on the normal fitting skills later. (Note for people who may be confused here: This is because Covert Ops skill level reduces the CPU requirements for cloaking devices significantly.)

I’d suggest that you use a skill planning program like EveMON (http://evemon.battleclinic.com/) and cover all your bases. First check the ship and how you’d like to fit it with Eve Fitting Tool (http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=548883) once done list out the ship fitting skills and update them on evemon.
Be sure to add fundamental skills that AREN’T mandatory like engineering, mechanics, electronics and navigation.
Finally optimise the skill queue with EveMON (optimise skilltraining) and add any necessary learning skills. Bingo.
Thanks for all the answers. I’ve been using evemon and EFT already and my training plan with a re=map, +3 implants and relevant learning skills came to 122 days. Perhaps I want to train to broadly. I’m patient though and it’s on a second account that only has a miner atm so I guess I just need to be patient.
