Do Energy Neuts work in high lag situations?

In extreme lag situations, you can get infinite cap. To combat this can you neut someone out in high lag situations?

Potentially, yes. But how are you gonna tell? During lag everything still functions, just beyond your control.

I dunno, if his client connection lags then the server might not register the cycle. Then it wouldn’t take effect on the target…

Good point. If the server never registers his request then it would be useless. I assumed he meant things that were active when the lag hit. If he jumped into a lagged system and turned everything on it may or may not activate server side. The connection between server and client is fairly complex and back and forth. So it’s hard to say what would and would not work in a high lag situation. The best bet is to avoid lag whenever possible. The best way to survive lag is to just disconnect and hope your ship warps off.

it's more likely that "infinite" cap is a consequence of server not registering modules activations and as such not counting cap amount you should lose from using them.

As such, it's fairly unlikely neut will do any good.

BTW whatch out with lag : server lag and regular lag is a different story.

Traditionnal lag is a usually caused by too high a ping.

server lag is the server processors that cannot "process" data in due time. Stuff gets queued and piled up (and eventually dropped in most extreme cases) until server can find the ressources to handle it.
