Does AB or MWD help getting to warp speed?

AB and MWDs both increase thrust so you accelerate faster to %75 speed to be able to warp. However since your max speed is also increased you have to get to a higher speed. So simple question is it worth it to hit your AB or MWD when aligned to get into warp faster?

Right when you are around %70 it is definitely not worth it but from a stop or rest would it get you into warp faster?

Yes and No:

This trick only really works if your ships normal align speed is longer than the cycle of your mwd - so the trick works nicely with big armour plated ships or heavy indy ships... but not frigates.

Click align to, turn on your microwarpdrive and immediately click it again to turn it off after it has completed 1 cycle. When the microwarpdrive completes its cycle, you will find that you insta warp.

This is because whilst the microwarpdrive is on, you will accelerate very quickly past 75% of your normal maximum speed. This doesn't help if you leave the microwarpdrive on, but when it completes its cycle and turns off, you will be well past 75% of your normal max speed and will insta warp.

For the purposes of the above, read microwarpdrive to mean microwarpdrive or afterburner.

no, having ab and mwd increases your align time, for two reasons, one as you suggest you have a higher top speed to obtain, two because your thrust in one vector has increased you're overall maneouverability must be diminished!

if you try turning the module on and off in eft you will see the effect on a ships alignment time.

However (trick for you, you may seen dotted around).

If you click align to, cloak, and then before your cloak takes effect activate your ab/mwd it will complete once cycle before automatically cycling off!

Because your speed in cloak is reduced at this point you will be over 75% of top speed and if you are quick can click de-cloak and warp to and get a quicker warp that way!

Actually the cloak trick won' work, since your top speed restores immediately after decloaking. There was a bug with cloak-warp when they made it that cloak turns off all modules. Then you could activate mwd, get a littel speed, cloak (to force MWD to shut off), decloak and instawarp.

This is true the bug was fixed however it will still work on all but frigates that align fast anyway! As your MWD speed is still greater than your top speed, when the MWD cycles off your speed will start to fall dramatically it is then you decloak and warp, as NF suggests below you don’t actually need to cloak…However I submit that if you are in a Hot gate cloaking makes the difference of being pointed or not.

If you’re using t1 cloak – won’t help much. With t1 cloak your speed is reduced to 10% of max speed. MWD gives you 550% boost, thus you effectively have 0.65 of your base speed. You sttel need time to get the last bit of speed after decloaking.

T2 cloak works much better though.
