No it will infact increase the time taken to warp.

Reason behind this is, your agility is unmodified but your mass and top speed is higher.

i.e you will not turn or impulse any faster but you will have additional mass to accelerate. Therefore it will take longer to achieve 75% of top speed and by extension get into warp.

If you wish to prove this, set up an EFT or EVEHQ fit and then see what difference the align/warp time is with the mwd on or off.

Jumping will take no longer with the MWD on or off, but will use more mass in WH’s or on Jump Bridges. The difficulty with jumping in a ship like an interceptor when the mwd is on is making sure you click jump while still in jump range of the gate when covering 4km/s

P.S having it fitted but inactive will not increase your align/warp speed only having it online.

EDIT: There is a trick where you could warp faster with an MWD and a Cloak by taking advantage of the cloaking mechanic. Basically you jump into new system, click on outgate, then do all these in sequence as quickly but unrushed as possible.

Align; Cloak; Cycle MWD; when cycle is about to end; decloak and spam warp.

the mwd cloak trick still works and doesn’t use the cloaking mechanics.

to clarify you hit align, cloak, mwd, receive one cycle of your mwd under cloak then when your mwd turns of decloak and spam warp to whatever aligned to. Makes you close invulnerable in low/highsec.

I’m sure CCP fixed this, prototype cloaks reduce your top speed to 10% decloaking after your mwd switches off forces you to accelerate back up, you can still sort of do this with Cruisers and below, but anything bigger and the speed dropped too fast. put it like this my alliance and I have no problems tackling targets on gates in low-sec anymore and I used to have issues pre apocrypha, if they haven’t fixed it they have at least made less potent.

You are merely catching idiots. I have used this trick many many times post apoc and have not had any problems insta-warping.

scary Fair enough, I suppose there must just be more idiots in eve these days lol. I don’t use the trick personally, never have. If I want to stay hidden in low-sec/Null-Sec I use a covert ops anyway. I must admit though if you truly are invincible like you were pre-apocrypha, where only lag could get you killed that must be borderline exploit. I have no problems with the mechanics or the people that do it, but I always thought the point was no one was uncatchable. Mind you I guess a good inty Pilot should still be able to decloak you even if you are almost in warp by that point. I will amend my post anyways :)

If the mod is left on it will Increase the time to warp, if the mod is one cycled it can significantly decrease the time to warp depending on the ship.

This is because in one cycle of a mwd, your ship will accelerate you to over the 75% of top speed mark and when the cycle ends you will warp instantly. If the ship would naturally warp in less time than it takes to cycle your mwd then this obviously will not work.

This is true, however bare in mind you are 5 times a bigger target while doing this, making you easier to lock and tackle. This is great when warping something that takes a while to warp in normal conditions.

perfect if you are moving a orca or some other big ship

A good answear to this question is.

If the alignment time is higher than 1 cycle with ab or mwd then it will go faster to use a ab or mwd in the start when you press warp.

Reason for this is: When you turn on your mwd your speed becomes 500% give or take faster since alignment time is based on your speed reaching 75% to warp then increasing your ships normal speed and then turn it off so it only does 1 cycle will make the ship warp instantly.

lets take a example: Orca has a alignment time off 56sec. you jsut jumped into a new system. you press warp to gate. normally this would take you 56sec before you warp. now right after you press warp you press on your ab and press it off so it stops after 1 cycle. cycle should be around 30sec where orca has reached 40% of top speed. since the modified orca with ab’s top speed has increased when it comes out of its cycle it will have the same speed as a 40% ab orca but around 80-100% base speed and will warp isntantly.

to above text if anyone understand what i mean and know they can rewrite it so it dosent sound confusing please do so. Too tired.
