The portrait exchange service vanished because CCP promised with Incarna that we’ll get cosmetic surgeries where we could change the entire avatar. They also said that maybe we could jump to a clone with a different bloodline than current.

Expect Aurum now to do so in a near future.

Actually you can just change the cosmetics of your character in your Captain Quarters for free, like clothing, hair style, etc.

To Clarify, the mirror in Captain’s Quarters allows you to change the cosmetics of your character, ie clothing, hair, tatoo’s etc.

It also then allows for new portraits to be done. These will initally be low res shots, which will be rendered in a much Higher resolution by CCP dependant on load at the next earliest opportunity.

Of course if you change nothing to be able to just change your portrait, but you can’t change your appearance without changing your portrait.

Which brings me back to my question … In the light of portrait exchanges – i.e. complete new changes of one’s face etc, as used to be the case until a few days ago – unless I am wrong – and of which we were not forewarned that this may change – for which one uses to pay, changing the portrait of an alt for a new one …
