EFT vs EVE, Why is the defense rating different?

I have just fitted my passive tank in EVE after having set it up in EFT. The DPS tank displayed in the fitting window is about 100 less than that shown in EFT. Is this because the number in EVE does not take into account resistances?

iirc, EFT uses your highest resit numbers, ie exp, where as the fitting screen in EVE uses your lowest resit.

EFT’s default profile is a 25%/25%/25%/25% damage distribution so it weights all your resists equally.

The defense number you are seeing in the fitting screen is your average raw shield recharge whereas EFT shows you the effective DPS you can tank after resists. Either way your shield will have to be damaged somewhat before you can actually tank that much damage since shield recharge rates are not constant.
