EveMON is an excellent tool to plan your skills you want to learn in the close-med-far future. It has a function to determine the necessary skill to fly any ship or to use any equipments in game. It also has an import function from EFT, which gives you an exact skillplan to fly the created fit in EFT. You can create you own skillplan as well, and EveMON offers you options to get them in the shortest time by using its features. For instance you can check the learning time with different implants and/or learning skill levels. You can determine your attribute remap points and which ones you should modify. I find EVEHQ a bit heavier to use due its multiple functions. EVEHQ has a built-in fitting part (like EFT is), a built-in skillplan part, but those thing are better in EveMON and in EFT (this is only a personal opinion). EVEHQ has a lot of useful plug-ins, which can make wonder if you give him a full API key. You can see your assets whereabouts, you can design a POS, you can see the corp/alliance wallets, using export functions you can determine easy, how much tax got the corp from any of its members in the current and previous months. You can check your killmails, you can design a route to 0.0 to Jita using the map plugin, or search a good agent in the near you have the necessery standing for, plan you inventions, and it also has a nice WH-DB too.

EVEHQ has the advantage of being EVEmon and EFT in one single program. However performance wise I still prefer EVEmon/EFT.

I think the tools can not be compared because MON specifically adresses skills, HQ does everything from fitting to pos's.

I like to use Evemon to see training times etc but i like to use EveHQ for the ship fitting tool..... EveHQ is a lot easier for me to import and export fits to and from Eve

I have had far too many issues with EveHQ. For instance, the first time installing it I had to choose a database location and other settings for eve mail, notifications, etc. Then, I proceeded to get an exception for every single eve mail and notification my character has ever received because it didn't create the access database correctly.

EveHQ could be awesome if they took the time to make it more user friendly. EveMon rocks in this arena but EveHQ can do far more.

They're both good tools. Most people use them concurrently.

EveMon can sort your skill queue by some criteria, but EveHQ can’t. There may be other minor differences that some people notice.

evehq can do that too, there are a lot of options for making skill plans
