First the corporation hauls in a POS (Player Owned Station) and the modules (arrays) they need to move their corp operation to a wormhole (WH). Some times this have to be done in several moves, since the WH only accepts a limited amount of mass passing through it before it collapses. Therefore when the "moving in" process have started, someone must always be inside the WH in case the current WH entrance collapses.

This station can more or less have all facilities that a NPC station has, like repair/fitting, hangar bay, production, research, refining. The only thing missing from a POS arrays, are market, bounty office and medical. And the biggest difference is that these arrays are put inside the POS shields as seperate modules, so you dont have 1 large station to dock at.

From inside the WH the corp members can mine, seek out WH sites and fight the Sleepers (WH rats). Some of the items that Sleepers drops can be researched to create T3 ships/modules. And of course do PVP fights with anyone that enters the WH, WH's are 0.0 so no security loss or concord inside the WH.

From time to time, corp needs supplies and/or want to sell minerals or items produced. Then corp members will scan out a WH exit, and look where it leads and if any decent markets close to that exit.

WH life can be exciting, but also challenging, since it's not so easy to get that book you need for training or that ship module you want. Thing needs a bit more planning. In addition there can go days and weeks for a new belt or sleeper site to appear, so sometimes it can get a bit quiet in there with not much to do. But with a decent active member base WH life can be fun.

WH corps are in general for more experienced pilots who aren’t constantly upgrading their ships due to skills.

Wormhole Corporations These can work in several different ways, depending on the level activity, strength of the pilots and the interest of the corporation as a whole. The following are some possible structures:

Wormhole Daytrippers - These are regular known-space based corporations that operate out of a given system or region. They scan down wormholes in their local area and enter individually or in fleets to harvest the resources that are available. They are primarily concerned with get in, kill sleepers, get out with the drops.

Wormhole Divisions - They operate as a divisional subset of a larger corporation specialising in wormhole specific operations. They usually have a control tower set up and are collecting resources to export to known space for resale or further construction. Logistics for fueling and resupply are split or handled by the parent corporation. Regular exits are required to allow the corporation to get what it needs from home.

Wormhole Corporation - The wholesale move by a corporation into a wormhole. Everything is run from within the confines of the control tower. Combat and harvesting take place within their system or local neighbourhood. Exits are less important and often either utilised or 'rolled' [closed and respawned] until something useful appears.

Wormhole Coalition - A larger group of wormhole corporations and or alliances that cooperate to collectively offer assistance to each other, trade resources and generally not kill each other or steal from each other.

In any situation, you will always want at least one person who can scan and is flying a ship with a probe launcher to be present in the system to protect against a wormhole collapsing.

Several good wormhole pilots actively blog about their experiences living in wormholes and form a good body of knowledge from which to draw information from. There is a list at: http://eve.finkeworld.com/whole-pack/

One of the biggest challenges of basing out of a POS is that ships can easily be stolen by corp-thieves. The solution is to lock down hangar access to only trusted pilots, but that can make for boring times if you are new to the corp and no-one with hangar access is on to grab the ships you need.

The best solution is to try out WH living with a small, trusted group of pilots so you don't have to worry as much about the theft issue.
