If a corporation I join has a particular standing with a faction, how (if at all) does that affect my standing with the faction and if it does, do I keep that standing when I leave? Similarly, if I increase my standing through missions while a member of a corporation, what happens to the corporate standing while I'm there and after I leave?

Your corporation's standing towards an entity never actually affects your personal standing towards an entity. However, while you are in a corporation you can use their standing instead of your own for gaining access to jump clones. Off the top of my head, this is the only thing that "inherited" standing from your corp can be used for; it does not give you access to any kind of agents, and does not reduce your fees while refining or trading.
The corp standing is the average of the personal standings of all members who have been in that corp for at least seven days. When you leave a corporation, your personal standing will continue to affect the corp's standing for seven days (seven downtimes), after which it will be recalculated without your contribution.
