How exactly do "Static Exits" work in Wormholes?

Numerous blogs and podcasts hosted by WH denizens mention "static exits". I assume that means they always open to the same type of space. Once a C3 wormhole exit, always a C3. Hisec K-space exits, always go to Hisec. Is that true? Also, are they always in the same place so one bookmark is always good, even after they close?

Static exits are a "permanent" type of wormhole that exits the w-space you are in. They are not always in the same place, but they do go to the same type of space (high-sec, class 4 WHs, etc.) They will disappear after a certain time limit or mass limit has been exceeded.

All wormholes have a name, and each static exit will re-open with the same name no matter where they are in the w-space, but they will not connect to the same system as the previous time. A wormhole with the name K162 is not a static exit. Ever. It is the other side of a wormhole from somewhere else.

There are over a thousand w-space systems, so the chances are very remote, but not impossible. However, I would first check that the wormhole you found is actually a different one and not the same as you checked the day before. Some WHs don’t collapse until 48 hours later (e.g. wormhole types B041 and U319).

Statics also always have the same mass and time limits and the same name (X123, etc…)

there is a theory that the exit is determined by region but no data has correlated that yet.

I have had whs connect 2 times in a row back to back to the same exact system. Has happened on more then 1 occasion. And my static C4 for today has the bookmarks in it that i created on the 13th.

Static whs DO cycle through a list'randomly' . That list has not yet been figured out.
