How much effective structural hitpoints does a Shadow Control Tower really have ?

With 10,000,000 HP at 99% resist, how much real damage points to take it down ?

Also, does something special happen to towers when they get into structure ?

Thanks!

yeah… i have been wondering about that 99% hull resistance too… i heard at one point that the 99% hull resistance is only when it’s packaged or something… but never have been sure… and by the way… all PoS towers and PoS modules have the 99% hull resistance… not only the “Shadow Control Tower”

Notice question marks near hull reistances for Shadow Control Tower and compare them to shield reistances.

The 99% resists are not for the control tower itself. Its structure has 0% resist. The 99% are the resists the POS gives to any anchored structure while online. The guns and such have 99% hull resists, so they're (relatively) easy to incapacitate, but very hard to destroy without destroying the tower first.

Nothing special will happen when POS starts getting hull damage... just big explosion ;)

This sounds about right, yeah. Confusing attributes are confusing…

yeah that sound about right with what i was told once… wish they would make that attribute a little more clear

That’s a good explanation which fits nicely. I had gone under the assumption that these “hull resistances” were somehow necessary for the reinforced mode to function. But I like your idea more :–) + 1

Well this is a very misleading attribute at best… kinda like Repair Drones that can’t repair you. Thanks for a lot of quick answers !

For details on resists and reinforced mode, see this related question...

The 99% structure resist (for tower and mods) is only active while the force field is operational. The force field drops and the POS goes offline as soon as it is out of armor. This means that when you actually start damaging the tower hull, it has no resists at all.

Effectively this means that the 99% hull resist on towers is just another one of those stats that don't really do anything.

Yes towers behave differently to ships when they take damage.

The hitpoints of a tower can be considered as simply shield hitpoints plus armor hitpoints. This leaves even a Small Minmatar Tower with 13.5 million hitpoints, 12.5 mill of which have Thermal and Kinetic resistances.

Once these hitpoints are gone, and assuming Reinforced Mode has passed or doesn't happen, the tower will pop.

so you mean the 99% hull resistance doesn’t count when it’s in space? it just has 0% hull resistance? then when does the 99% hull resistance come into play?
