How to gate camp in low sec

I am wanting to set up a low sec gate camp with my corp. We are small and will probably only have 4 people max on the gate with an alt on the other side scouting.

Will four BCs be good enough to perma tank the gate guns? I think we will probably have two drakes and two canes. I would like to be able to permatank so we dont have to warp out and wait for the GCC to expire. I am also curious of where the ships should set while on the gate. I am guessing they should be about 10km off in a circle around it so they can cover most possible decloak points.

Finally, what fittings are best for low sec gate camps? Are reppers and rechargers needed with 4 BCs or will the guns cycle enough to share the damage?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

To answer your questions:

Will four BCs be good enough to perma tank the gate guns?

In terms of what amount of DPS you'll be needing to tank take a look-see here. Another thing you might consider is having a dedicated tackler to point any ships coming through the gate. You might miss out on many kills if your target is smaller and nimbler than your fleet and you have no means to pin them down.

I am also curious of where the ships should sit while on the gate

This really is down to personal preference and ship fitting. You hardly want a mini-fleet of enemy BCs popping up right next to your arty Drakes. Here is also a nice link to another similar question regarding distance from the gate.

Finally, what fittings are best for low sec gate camps?

I would once again suggest having a dedicated tackler with scrams and webs to pin your victims down. The rest of the ships should be fit for high DPS and a armor or shield tank that is able to comfortably take the sentry gun aggro.

Are reppers and rechargers needed with 4 BCs or will the guns cycle enough to share the damage?

Logistics is always nice. But not imperative for the kind of setup you're going for.

Also remember to scout the gate a bit before you set up your camp. This could also help with fittings as it should give you an idea of what will be popping through gates on a regular basis. Are you going to be seeing tons of indys or faction fitted battleships. What is the activity in the area like in general? The last thing you want is large fleets jumping on top of you while you're taking sentry gun damage. Oh and if you happen to be gatecamping a lowsec gate that goes into highsec, don't jump into highsec space by mistake until the GCC has taken its course unless you want to be Concordokken'd.

EDIT: Added another link for the optimal distance from the gate when gate-camping.

Your Drakes should be fine under gate guns, but you'll probably want a repper on each of your Hurricanes to increase the time you can stay under gate guns before you have to warp off. You'll want buffer as well, as gate guns probably won't be the only thing shooting you.

A sensor-boosted/remote sensor-boosted heavy interdictor is also a good move on a low sec gate - chuck an RSB on each of your Hurricanes and you should be able to grab most stuff that comes through. And you'll want a repper and buffer on your HIC as well if it's armour-tanked.

If you're going for small stuff, artillery on the Hurricanes works great. Sensor boost them and they should be able to pop most frigates that try to burn off or make it back to the gate.

If you can have a prober on gate that's also a good idea, for people who warp to bookmarks before warping down to the gate.

That's all I can think of right now. I spend most of my time in 0.0, so most of this is what I've observed other successful low sec gate campers do.

Ok from my time gate camping in low sec I have figured out a few things. First off Gate guns do about 350 DPS so your tank is going to need to hold that much. A well fight drake can do it no problems. Now for your canes thats another story. They will need to have a heavy armor tank and Reps. Now if you wanted to and you have the CPU/Cap you can put a Medium RR on both your drakes and help your canes stay alive. With one of your canes your gonna want to Sensor boost the living S*&$ out of it and get it so it can lock everything. Just make sure that that is the cane with the Point it

As for placement what you need to do is keep your ships at different points maybe your drakes at a 10 and 13km orbit your Cane at a 5-9 and one almost on the gate the one on the gate can be the pointer. Also if you can assign all your drones to the fast locker so the maxim alpha is put on target
