How to Reduce Lag

I am looking for a list of things to do to reduce lag in eve. Examples: Scrolling out, turning off missile effects. I know there has to be a few things out there!

Optimize Operating System Optimize Game settings Optimize Network Optimize Computer Hardware

custom overview - this is the overview editor which may help you create better overview.

IMHO, ATI x5870 is a very stable, solid Video card, this is what I use.

Regardless, I turn down VIDEO card settings to minimum, all except mipmap detail and catalyst AI. It helps the card run at lower temperatures and a lot less noise.

In game, I use my max resolution 1920x1200 and no other 'extra' settings. No bloom, no HDR, no cache. No missile effects, no turret effects, no camera shake etc...

Having a sound card is essential, if you do not enable 'audio' in eve, you still have the voice comms, audio processing puts a lot of stress on you system if you do not have a 'dedicated' card. They say that PCIexpress cards such as ASUS Xonar are decent. I have my Sounblaster X-fi PCI card (not too bad). The 'top' choice for audio quality may be an 'external' audio card, such as firewire or other sorta expensive cards.

When playing cut everything down to minimum, chat channels, chat logging, eve audio service, assets, people in watch list, market windows etc...

To win an FPS you need to cut down graphics to bare minimum, it gives assertive advantage. In MMO you need to cut down on all objects and connections you have. It doesn't add more skill, but makes the gameplay experience more smooth, especially over those with max-settings-on.

Also inform the GMs about fleet fight and do not use SHITTY Vent/Teamspeak server. If you get hacked and booted, you may create massive latency when 200+ people rejoin.

Bloom and something labeled along the lines of "sun is diffused behind objects" take up a lot of GPU processing time.

In PvP situations I tend to turn off all effects.

You should also investigate brackets, which basically remove the labeling of objects on the main screen without necessarily removing them from the overview, also has a big effect. I didn't really believe how much this affected my computer (and I have 2 decent G-cards fitted) until I tried it outside Jita 4-4.

If U have all turrets in one group clear ii and make for example 3 groups per 2 turrets if U have 6. It is really helpful when fighting in big fleets. Also for basic change all graphic to low.
