Say I have .7 with gallente and create a corp. Will my standings be put in place straight away, or will I have to wait a week or something? I’ll be the only one in the corp.

No. It takes a week, and I know this from experience when I tried to set up a hisec POS for a friend. The Evelopedia also mentions it.

It seems that only time when you don’t have to wait whole week for corporation standings to be calculated is when new patches/expansions are being deployed.
I’ve just tried this by expelling one corp member day before Incursion 1.6.1 patch was announced in order to get standings for setting up POS in 0.7 space. As soon as member left corporation and patch was deployed – standings were re-calculated.
Aw, okay. Too bad, but hey. I saw this in EVElopedia, but it didn’t specify how it worked when creating the corp, only how joining members with different standings affected the player corp’s standings. I was hoping that the creator’s standings would take effects would take place immediately.
You need to bear in mind that the standings you see are rounded up. If you have 6.99, it may display as 7.0, however you won’t be able to anchor a POS in 0.7 space due to lack of standing. I always say, get it to 7.01 ;–)
