Incursion and the "Click Sink": improvements?

The CSM outlined several areas in scanning and PI that are horrible click sinks. The EVE Incursion pages indicates that suggestions from the CSM will be implemented in the Winter release. However, I have not found any devblogs that spell out exactly how click sink will be addressed, if at all. Has anyone else?

TL:DR

Yes the PI clickfest is to be removed, AND the ability to upgrade Command Centers is going to be added.

Long Version

Here's a quote taken from an interview of CCP Noah Ward over at TenTonHammer.

"TTH: Is there anything you are thinking of including to planets more accessible or exciting to players?

Noah: What we have been focusing on lately with planetary interaction is making it a more fun gameplay experience. We have been looking at taking out some of the repetitive-stress inducing "clickiness" that it can have. Like when you need to select ten extractors and have each one survey the planet, and then it is like five clicks each. We are looking at how we can improve that mechanic and make it less clicking and more of the initial gameplay where you are setting up your colony and finding out where you want to put your extractors. That is the more fun part, anyway.

So you will be able to move around your extractors. There will be a thing called an Extractor Control Unit that will have its own UI that controls all of your extractors at once, so that you do not have to do all this clicking. The other thing is that you can now upgrade your command centers without having to destroy your entire colony, which was pretty boring."

Excellent, thanks. Now the proof will be in the pudding. Ever so tempted to start using a script; they are so handy for the mind-numbing, brain-dumping mundane things….

All they need to do, is give the ability to click box around say harvesters, right click to start them all on the desired cycle time. Just like we click box around a bunch of icons on the desktop to delete them.

That helps, but does not solve the problem. Why not manage all harvsters from a central window? Why not have a recurring schedule (ie, if I want 5-minute cycles to run for an entire month)? You cannot even change a schedule in mid-cycle without destroying the harvester. Too much clicking. This is a space-age game, yet the micromanagement is a killer.

The main problem of the existing system is the possibility of using click bots in a very easy way. I think ccp isn't changing anything because of clicksinkiness, but to prevent further too easy use of e.g. mouse macros. So they plan to randomise the red spots on the planets, so you have to actively readjust your extractors by hand from time to time.

They did mention a more "dynamic and simplified system for Planetary Interaction" due to be implemented in Incursion.

I've not actually heard about the "click sink" problems you're referring to so I am not sure if this is the same thing.

I see… well the mentioned “simplified” PI may involve this proposal. Who knows…
