Is a system to see what ships are outside a station needed?

Many times in low sec or null sec, when you have been declared war upon, you must remain in a station to prevent be killed and pod killed. There is no current way to see who is outside the station. Do you think a system is needed to see this, or do you like the air of mystery and suspense of not knowing if undocking will be your last action in Eve?

You can retain your invulnerability when undocking from station if you stop your ship.

Pressing Ctrl+ Space bar (once) will cause your ship to slow and stop, on all but the worst stations (amarr ones) you should stop inside docking sphere, then once your timer has expired you will be able to redock if the situation warrants it.

You can be bumped out by battleships, but it is hard to do.

Other then that insta warps are very useful.

In 0-0 i lean towards stopping rather than insta warp due to bubbles.

thing is if in doubt, just go out in your pod, they will have a hard time bumping you, you stop on a dime and you have a long lock time all the ingredients you need...... and you shouldn't have expensive stuff in your head if you are in a station with problems anyway so minimal risk. If it's clear once your timers up, dock up, change ship, undock and repeat. If not, make a note of who is outside, you dock up once your timers up, go get a coffee and maybe try again.

Obviously any local spike would cause me to abort, nothing is 100% but this is as safe as it gets really.

The idea behind not being able to see out of a station is for balancing purposes. They can't see in anymore than you can. This protects you just as much as it protects them.

You can always check local and see if there are hostiles in system, although without another player giving you visual information you cannot see if there is anyone right outside a station you are in.

Now in null sec the actual stations tend to be few and far between. In this case you'd be spending most of your time in a POS shield. This is clear and does allow you to see outside. But it also has other downsides that a real station does not.

If you're in o.o the stations are pretty much perma camped unless they are way out of the way or an outpost. (Which still get camped fairly often.)

In low-sec you don't really have to worry about it as much unless your in a ship that looks good on a kill mail or is a juicy target. An industrial or the like. just do the local vs. in the station check. Another thing you can do is make a ship with a large buffer tank and relatively small sig radius. undock, see if it's clear, redock.

there is another easy way. just get in a friend/alt from outside the system to check if someone is outside the station though they still can be cloaked.

In low sec, insta-warp is your friend ;) Make sure you get used to how EvE handle "collisions" while exiting a station. There is a small amount of time when you can't bump into anything for as long as you simply go straight without activating anything.

Some people try to bump you out of course once you exit, make sure they cant do that ! train with some friends BEFORE !

You can see, what is outside the station. But this only work, if the local is not in delay mode. That means, not in the mode where are the ppl hided until they chat.

If you are not in such a system (0.0) compare the ppl on station and the ppl in the local. The ppl, that are on local but not on station can be in front of your station or everywhere else in the system. But not on your station :D

Local only works like that in worm holes, where there are no stations.
