Logging out of EVE while in a POS forcefield.

Asked by [ Editor ]

It has been suggested I ask this question out to the viewing public. :)

I have noticed since incursion, but it may of happened before that. Sitting in a POS with corp mate, trash talking and generally just doing indy work, that when he logged out of eve client, instead of Emergency warping and sitting for a minute and disappearing as would be the norm, he infact stayed on grid for his minute and his ship then vanishes...

I thought it was strange and immediately scanned for his ship on directional, nothing....

And so the question is: Has anybody else noticed this, does logging out of EVE in a POS while having no flags cause no EWARP? In other words are you safe logging in a POS if you haven't killed anything, or am I clearly losing my marbles.

Hi, this was changed in 2008 with the Rev II patch. Specifically:

Starbases and Player Owned Structures

Logging out inside a starbase forcefield will now not activate an emergency warp, provided that you have rights to stay inside the forcefield.

Official patch notes from 2008.

Rash.

“provided that you have rights to stay inside the forcefield.”?… so if you aren’t in the corp that own the PoS… it’ll still warp you out?

If you aren’t in the Corp or Alliance owning said POS, I’d expect you to be ejected upon a session change as this would clear the forcefield password.

As far as I Remember when you log out inside a POS forcefield your ship does no emergency warp and you stay inside the FF until your ship disappears.

When you log in again it gets strange, you are outside the POS and warp back to your old position inside the FF, this can cause problems if you need a password to access the POS and don't set it fast enough. In this case you'll bounce off the FF and stay outside.
