Making ISK in wormholes

Asked by [ Editor ]

I have wanted to get into wormholes recently but am not sure how most folks make their ISK.

I don't want to get into using an ALT or anything. Is there any money making in soloing a wormhole?

What’s your definition of “money making”. For some people, making less than 100 million per hour isn’t worth it. What’s your standard?

Without using an alt (not a second account, an alt) it's troublesome.

Being in a wormhole means you have to be self sufficient :

  • you need to have ammo somehow (produce it using a pos ? or use drones or use lasers)
  • you cannot dock every so often to sell your loot as it pleases you
  • you need to spend some slots on salvagers, tractor beams AND probe launcher
  • you need cloak, no you cannot do without it :D

People make their isk from salvage and from loot. You can also do some PI in there.

Having an alt that can probe is perfect because : wormholes are unpredictible (at least to some extend) and random : if you leave your w-space, there is no garanty you can find it back because the wormhole might have collapsed !

An ideal w-space for you is a class 1 with a link to high sec.

On a daily basis you will have an exit that leads to known-space, allowing you to unload cargo, sell stuff, repair, and so on.

If the wormhole was to collapse, an alt INSIDE the wormhole will be able to probe the exit the day after, and your main toon can then move on to the exit system to re-enter the wormhole. Let's say your w-hole exits somewhere in everyshore, then collapse. The day after the entrance could be anywhere else, let's say near amarr ;)

Working solo in wormhole is a different kind of stuff. You need to be prepared. It does provide some juicy isk though. But it's more difficult too :

  • sleepers are super deadly
  • pvp can occur anytime, since local doesn't show anything... it will get you paranoid
  • logistics are difficult (as previously mentionned).

Read other w-space related topics on STC before going. Also make sure you are properly fitted and skilled for the job. Lastly : you will need to train a probing alt, no matter what.

Wow, thanks! Sounds a bit more difficult than I had hoped but, perhaps, I can tag along with some corpies.

Also the Eve-University provides a number of free downloadable audio lectures on WH space and many other topics. They can be found here:

Binary > it ain’t so hard really. Friend of mine showed me the way, class 2 WH with my myrmidon, and while the ship wasn’t really much (especially for a class 2, which is the biggest you can solo in battlecruiser), I still managed to make some cash.

Just don’t go unprepared, READ, save some isk, think your fit deeply, and more than anything : USE DOTLAN ! Check out for your worm space on dotlan and see if there are people in there. If you jump into a system occupied by people, they will scan you down and pop you ;) That’s what I would do :P
