Missioning. How is it best done?

Ok so I have always wondered how you should go about running missions. Some of my friends say you should just try and run through them as fast as I can. Others tell me to go and loot the wrecks. While others tell me to go and do both salvaging and looting. So now my question is which is best, and if there is an even better way to do it them please tell me because I would like to make the most out of my mission grinding.

L5 missions: Blitz them get the LP, trade for faction ship or dmg mods and sell.

FW Missions: See L5 Missions

L4 Missions: The biggie:

Check the Mission rats loot table and salvage table. Take note of Meta 4 Loot and pricey Salvage.

  • Salvage: Melted Cap Consoles, Armor PLates, ... Check market for the rest
  • Loot: Arbalist Launchers, 1600mm Rolled Tungston Plates, ...Check market for more-

If your mission will have that stuff you should grab it. Focus on the BS for loot and salvage. IF there will be 'Arbalist' Missile Launchers they are money for drake pilots so check the BC/Cruisers fly away if it's not there.

Missions could be done quickest in a Marauder to pve/loot/salvage at once, otherwise grab ablther ship. Destroyers work, BC's work better (cargo, MWD/AB combo, 8 highs, Cap). There is a new ship being released for loot/salvage check that when it comes out.

Otherwise do it for the ISK. You can even chain missions, to an extent. If you get a very lucritive mission like WORLDS COLLIDE or somethign to that effect, you can do the mission, don't kill the last trigger, and warp out. The mission will respawn at downtime. This works when you have access to several L4 agents in a close proximity (Ex: Vezila and Gehi 5 l4 agents between 2 stations). Get a good mission, and chain it, do missions on another agent in the mean time.

As for LP, the best way to gain that in L4 is to BLITZ the mission, but even better is to go to L5 missions.

L1,L2,L3: Do them as fast as you can to get to L4 Agemts.

Additional Tips if w/ a friend:

  • Get your missions at the same time, do them both, then come back.-
  • BM the mission, complete it, then pass PM to buddy/alt to salvage/loot. If the mission is complete, they can use MWD.
  • Something for small ships. Bringing your BS's and Marauders is great, but to REALLY speed it up, bring a ship able to instapop frigs. Let that be their job and the BS's go after bigger ships. Some great choices: AF, Cerb, Drake, Nighthawk. Missiles working well bc you can be relatively far away and not worry about distance. Drop a TP on Drake/NH for guaranteed insta-pops.
  • Have mission ships set up in advance: You know you get Angles in your Worlds Collide, have a ship set up to tank it. If you see Sansha, Angles, Guristas in missions, have a ship for each one so you can dock, get mission, swap ship, undock.
  • If you have 2 other ppl doing it with you, tank everyone closer to omni to do all the missions on a run.-

yes, you are not gonna fing 5 l4 agents in 2 stations next to each other in highsec. Multiple L4 agents that are realy close to each other will allow you to chain the missions.

Vezlia and Gehi are both in lowsec (0.3).

Depends on the lvl and ship you fly , you can do the mission bm it and then come back in a salvage ship to salvage it or if its a drone boat like vexor , myrm or dominix , then fit tractors and salvage on you ship and let the drones do the dirty part :D

There is no best way of doing it, as there is no optimal outcome!

To build LPs and standings quickly with no care for ISK, blitz the missions, ignore everything else. (Be nice and "abandon" your wrecks for the poor ninja salvagers to come and loot.)

To earn beaucoup ISKies, kill all ships, destroy all structures, loot and salvage everything. If there are asteroids to mine, then mine them. You need to work out if it is more profitable to pick up the time bonus ISK or let the mission respawn after the next downtime. (Usually, it is better to complete the objective, do as much loot/salvage/mine as possible before the bonus time runs out, then hand it in and get another mission.)

Avoid mining and hand the mission in after loot/salvage to balance ISK and LP/standings earning ability.

If you're flying a BS, I find it's generally easiest to blitz missions and forget salvaging. If this is not the case you might be better off salvaging post-mission.

If you're at the point where you can fly a marauder, then you stand to make a lot of money very quickly by salvaging as you complete the mission.

I think if you are flying a frigate or a destroyer, and especially if you're not very efficient in fighting, you should not only loot but also salvage the wreck. Salvaging will make the best out of individual mission, as some salvaged materials are expensive.

But if you're efficient in battle, you should rely on mission rewards and ignore wrecks or ships which are not required to be destroyed. It takes time, anyway.

As others above have said, it depends on the level of missions.

For instance, when I do level 2 missions, I find I get far more ISK from salvaging than I do from the mission reward. The mission reward is measured in thousands of ISK, while the salvage return is usually in the millions.

That said, if you are going to salvage, it's usually most efficient to bookmark all the rooms, then go turn in the mission. After that, return in a ship with multiple salvagers, tractor beams, and an MWD. Warp to all your bookmarks and loot the wrecks and salvage them.
