New Sovereignty System

I've had a break from EVE. Now that I'm back, I'm wondering about the new sovereignty structures and how they work. What has changed? Are there still 4 sovereignty levels? Do you still need POS structures to maintain sovereignty?

A few more details: To gain sov, you do need to online a TCU in the system (I believe this process takes 8 hours). At this point, the TCU, the Infrastructure Hub, and any Stations in the system that you own become invulnerable to attack.

To attack a system, you must online SBUs at >50% of the stargates. This makes the IHUB and any Stations vulnerable to attack. Both the IHUB and the Station have both a Shield and Armor reinforce timer, and you need to destroy the IHUB and flip any Stations before the TCU becomes vulnerable. Then finally, once the IHUB and Stations are destroyed and taken over respectively, you destroy the TCU and start anchoring your own TCU.

It's a long and boring process, and generally the only thing you use POSs for in it are to guard your TCUs. Once you gain sov though, POSs are where you deploy the modules like cyno jammers etc (after you've installed the corresponding strategic upgrade in the IHUB).

Hi Bobylein,

I can sort of answer this for you.

the TCU (territorial claim unit) is the item that allows soverignty of a system. Once online it grants soverignty to the system. Also once online it is impervious to attack.

The SBU (Soverignty blockade unit) must me installed in 50% or more of the systems stargates, once these are up and online in sufficient numbers the TCU of the system becomes vulnerable.

iHubs (Inferstructure upgrades) these are used to install upgrades to the systems, and allow for things like system cyno jaming and jump bridge networks to be installed. I think this is re-enforced similar to POS's but needs to be re-enforced twice not once.

These must be removed before the TCU can be blockaded. and this is what is reponsible for the 5 levels of soverignty.

This is where my knowledge of the intricacies end I'm afraid.

There is more to it I know, and although you don't need pos's in system to have soverignty it is mighty hard not to have them in as some of these structures take hours to anchor and online and obviously will need defending.
