On successful invention, is the T1 BPC number of runs ends up being the same on the T2 BPC?

If not, how can I influence this number upward?

No, the T1 BPC's number of runs can not influence the T2 BPC's number of runs directly.

You need to use decryptors and you need to use a maximum run BPC to influence the number of runs on a T2 BPC, otherwise you get 1 (for ships) or 10 (for everything else). This site is very helpful for T2 invention with decryptors.

The Evlopedia is also your friend in this matter.

This formula would suggest that the t1 bpc number of runs does effect the t2 number of runs: Invention Output Runs = MIN(MAX(ROUNDDOWN( (InputT1BPCRuns / T1MaxRunsPerBlueprintCopy) * (T2MaxRunsPerBlueprintCopy / 10) + DecryptorRunsBonus), 1), T2MaxRunsPerBlueprint_Copy)

It depends on the number of runs and on decryptors.

Most ship fittings have a bpc limit of 300 runs, successful invention on a max run bpc will result in a t2 bpc with ten runs.

Decryptors can change the resulting number of runs on the t2 bpc, (and also effect ME and PE, and the chance of success). Each race has five different named decryptors which have the same stats, you can tell which you need based on the encryption skill and interface needed.

To maximise decryptors value/cost trade-off they should be used for invention jobs on bpc with max runs.

Correction: successful invention on a max run bpc will result in a t2 bpc with ONE run. decryptors can modify that.

There is a limited effect in that if you do not use a Max run BPC then the amount of runs you get will not be a Max unmodified t2 run. IIRC if you use less than a max run BPC you only get a 1 Run t2 BPC. Havent tested it in a while after drifting away from R&D work personally though so it may have changed.
