Once my ship blows, eve client lags. What to do?

Hello All

As the subject says, when my ship is destroyed, eve client lags for a couple of seconds. Switching to podsaver tab and GTFO is very problematic tough. I thought it is related to my settings/graphics card but, asked corpmates and it seems to be a general problem.

Are there any work-arounds for this problem?

Pod saver is still the best option. If you're not bubbled and are spamming warp before you actually blow up, your pod will warp immediately the vast majority of times. Lag is unavoidable though, sometimes you will simply lag too much to warp out.

This is a “Ship Destroyed” lag which is different to server/network lag. Other people won’t be affected by it; crumby coding tbh.

keep in mind that if you are lagging, it’s expected that others are lagging as well…

If you fly in low sec or Empire, in truth you should never lose a pod as long as the game itself doesn't lag. There are two types of lag being discussed here. One is game/server/network lag which affects everyone.

The other is a type of Ship Destroyed lag.

The best way to combat this is a very simple approach. When you're going down, select a celestial on your overview (not a station or gate!), and click align by using the buttons at the top of the overview. personally I have an overview just for getting my pod out with nothing but the desired celestial objects on it.

Making sure that said celestial is still selected and when your ship is about to pop, start spamming away on the warp to button at the top of the overview.

Once the ship pops, keep hammering away on that warp to button. The pod will then insta warp out.

I have never lost a pod when doing this unless I was bubbled, drunk or weasn't paying attention to what I was doing.

There was a trick to set autopilot to some other system and activate the autopilot when your ship is going to boom. This way your pod would warp to the gate (in 15 unfortunately) immediately after your ship destruction.

This is no longer true since ship destruction disables autopilot (it was in some patch notes AFAIR).

I believe the best way would be to eject from your ship before it goes boom. A little less lag this way and you can hope to get out before your opponents realize they're shooting empty ship.

You can also switch to podsaver tab before your ship is actually destroyed.
