Pirate Epic Arc missions

Asked by [ Moderator ]

Are there any details available to help run the Pirate Epic Arc missions, other than the original DevBlog noted by CanHasGank? eve-survival.org does not have the usual helpful mission info for these missions.

I have not started them, yet, but I want to know things like how many nullsec systems (on average?) will I need to drag an interceptor through? What weapon and ammo types make the best choices to complete the combat parts of the missions? What rewards are available? (I've heard that you can get a pirate faction cruiser BPC.) Is the mission arc worth it just for new toys?

There are Guristas and Angel pirate mission arcs at the moment, so can I run both? What will happen to my empire faction standings if I run either or both? (I have very high gallente and minmatar standings, so anything anti-gal and/or anti-min causes a large drop in those standings.)

If you are looking for more detailed information you’ll need to expand on your question I think.

You are probably right. I shall re-write the question.

In Dominion two pirate epic arcs were added to the game, putting you to work for the Angel Cartel and Guristas Pirates respectively.

Not all of the introductory agents are official members of the pirate faction, meaning that you are not required to have a high pirate standing to do these arcs.

The starting agents for the Gurristas Epic arc ("Smash and Grab") are:

  • Arment Caute, Federal Intelligence Office, Gallente Federation, Orvolle
  • Atma Aulato, Ytiri, Caldari State, Obe
  • Yada Vinjivas, Guristas, Guristas, Taisy

The starting agents for the Angel Cartel Epic arc ("Angel Sound") are:

  • Aton Hordner, Republic Security Services, Minmatar Republic, Egbinger
  • Arajna Ashia, Amarr Navy, Amarr Empire, Sendaya
  • Ellar Stin, Dominations, Angel Cartel, Konora

The pirate epic arc missions are intended to be completed in an Interceptor, but any fast T2 frigate will likely do the job as well. It is also worth mentioning that the missions take place primarily in 0.0 space, meaning you need to be able to traverse possible hostile territory.

Pirate epic arc missions affect your standing like other missions do. So you will receive a standing increase towards the factions friendly with the pirate faction in question and a standing decrease towards the factions that are hostile towards the pirates.

If you are looking to increase your standings with the pirate factions, the pirate epic arc missions can be repeated every three months. Also, unlike conventional missions, once you receive an Epic Arc mission, it does not expire.

More details can be found in this dev blog and on evelopedia.

Have you got any useful links for the missions? The eve-survival.org site has no mention of the pirate arcs.

No, that link is for the Sisters of Eve epic arc missions. The arc is great fun, especially if you are young in the game, but it is not the same as the Guristas and Angel pirate epic arcs. (You don’t earn pirate faction blueprints, for a start!! :) )

Right you are… I didn’t look at it properly I guess. Then no, I have no links :P

Rewrote my post. Removing devblog quote, added relevant agents.

D'oh! I have re-written the question now. Unless anyone else can come up with more specific numbers in the next few days, you win the bounty.

I've done these on a couple of characters. They're certainly a nice change from level 4s. You will have a standing increase with the pirate factions, but you will NOT have a decrease with the empire factions they are hostile to. From memory you'll have maybe 6 jumps through null to get to the agent, and a good few jumps while you are out there: most of the missions in the chain want you to go two or three jumps and not all can be handed in remotely. The most stressful time is heading back after you've completed the arc, with a gila or cynabal blueprint in your hold.

Ideally you'll want to do the arc with a friend, both to scout for you and to speed tank the enemy ships while you do the dps, very like how people do the amarr faction warfare missions. A friend will also be helpful to scout your way back to empire space with that blueprint.

If you are going to solo them, (like I did 3 out of the 4 times because I am a man of iron) then you probably want an assault ship rather than an interceptor. Ishkur ripped through the missions for me, while my taranis struggled a little. Jag was OK on my other character although the dps was anaemic, and for the angel arc I speedtanked while a friend shot the pirates in a dps fit amarr AF. That was definitely the easiest one out of the 4. Without a friend though, I would say that an ishkur is nicely overpowered for the missions.

Getting a friend and splitting speed tank and dps duties > solo ishkur > taranis or decent AF > other, tissue-paper-ier interceptors.

Also, do it when it's quiet and check the map for number of kills recently before you set off, and don't forget to swap out the afterburner on your jaguar for a mwd, or believe me you feel like an idiot when you get caught in a bubble and try to run for it.
