You've just asked your question in the place you are looking for.

To be honest it is easier to learn through experience, than to read about something. More fun too. It would be better to join a corporation (in game) like Eve University where they can teach you everything you want to know about most of eve, then progress to a PVP-based academy/university to learn more. Then play every day for the next 5-10 years to learn the rest of the game.

from what i hear eve university is just a giant ISK generating corp for the leadership :/ i would avoid such shady establishments, and instead try a NPC corp for a while, then if you find good friends join their corp.

i doubt ppl doing l1 and l2 missions are generating that much.

They seem to do a Lot of work on their website with classes and what not. And they do pay basic stuff for you. And you learn stuff. They got 10% tax. So it’s probably not for the ISK.

Your best bet is to join a training corp, or just fumble around until you get a hang of it. There is also the in-game chat channel "Help", ISD Volunteers hang out there as well as vets. There are a few good wikis, but your best bet is in-game:

EVE-University Wiki (lots of useful guides): http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_Page

Evelopedia (Official CCP site) (Plenty of backstory, as well as a full item database): http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Main_Page

I agree. The original official wiki does cover pretty much everything that you'll worry about when first playing, alongside doing the career agent tutorials.

Finding and joining a friendly player run corp will give you experienced players who can guide your learning experience, although the onus is still generally on you to push yourself and determine what you want to make of your character.

Alternatively, if like me you find yourself offline a lot, a couple of Hungarian veteran players have just translated their colossal PDF Eve guide into English. I've seen no guide as comprehensive. It's available for free at

www.isktheguide.com

The English use makes for pretty comic reading at times too!
