planetary interaction, what gives?

Planetary interaction yields more on 0.0 systems but the risks involved are obviously greater. Can I expect a reasonably bigger profit when I go 0.0 rather than just harvest in Empire?

I have found that 0.0 yields approximately 6x that of high sec. I set up a barren planet in both high sec and null sec with a level 5 command center. I was able to produce 25,000 on average from 4 pin heads on a 2 day cycle in null sec while having to use 10 pin heads in empire only yielding 14,000 per hour.

In 0.0 there are greater "Mineral (for lack of a better word" deposits than in lowsec and highsec and in lowsec there are greater deposits than in highsec. Meaning that you will get more per cycle in nullsec, then lowsec, and lastly highsec. Not only that but there will be less crowded Planets in nullsec so you can pick a better spot to harvest.

My understanding, from reading around forums mostly, was that the 0.0 worlds have a significant profit spike compared to high-sec, and even low-sec (which itself experiences a much gentler gain curve compared to high security space).

Still, again, this is just what I've picked up, so hopefully someone with firsthand knowledge can come help.

One issue with PI in 0.0 is that if an alliance has claimed that system (i.e. has sovereignty there), you cannot deploy a command centre. The effectively restricts most of nullsec PI to space-holding alliances. The exceptions to this are the pirate regions held by NPCs (eg Angel held Curse and Blood Raider held Delve) which function that same as low-sec and hi-sec in that they're fair game for everyone.

Are you sure about this one ?

Well, I’m not into PI but if you don’t have access to null sec you can do it in wormhole. This should give same yield without worrying about sovereignty…

You don’t need Sov to do PI and neither does lacking Sov prevent you from doing PI.

I'm in a big alliance and the risk in our inner home systems to fly around with a T1 Indy are close to zero, if you are not fully retarded or extremely unlucky. I have been doing it for 5 months now and have not lost one ship and only heard of one or two others. This may be VERY different in other places!

So, if you have buyers in system or other means to have your stuff safely transported to Jita, then PI yields a steady income with low to very low effort. I made roughly 50-100M per week with around 1 hour effort (spread out into several chunks of 10-15 minutes every now and then), though it won't scale up much more. I plan to redesign my complete production soon and up my skills a bit more as well. I heard from someone in the corp, that he had made a set of planets streamlined to produce POS fuel (always in demand!) earning double my numbers with the same effort.

You could even boost your yield some more, but then you would have to invest a LOT more effort ;)
