Pod Ransom: What's a good amount?

I've had my pod ransomed for 20mil once. It was my scanning alt without implants, so I didn't care. But in general, what is a good ransom amount for a pod? Should it depend on whether it's a rifter pilot in lowsec, hisec wardec target or a ratter in 0.0?

Start high and work down? There is probably a point when the average pilot will realise that their implants + clone are worth more than ransom. It will depend on the reputation of ransommer (is that a word?), and the amount of work the hostage would need to undertake to get back to their current situation.

Probably highest bounty in high-sec as they are more likely to be a carebear with implants!

In 0.0, I guess most people just fit two +3 learning (2x10mil), and some assorted cheap 1% implants. Assuming medical clone price, 1% implants and hassle, I guess 25mil would a good ballpark figure in 0.0. In hisec, pve carebears could be carrying 0.5-1+bil in implants, and different ball game altogether.

I usually base it off how old a character is.

a 2010 char will 90% of the time not be carrying +4s or +5s around so 20-30 mil is sufficient.

If you get an 03 or 05 player locked down in a pod there is a chance he has +4s or +5s so 100+ is usually worth it esp if you consider the price of a clone.

I usually don't ransom and just pod anyways - but when i do, i look at the age of the char and determine from that.

I would think that if a pod is worth saving it would need to have a +4 set in its head. Thus, I would suggest ransoming for somewhere between the worth of a +3 set and a +4 set. say 80M?

Alternatively, ransom them for the worth of the insurance they just got from their ship you just blew up. That would be poetry.

Did you try to jump in a clone without implants and ask a buddy to kill your pod and then share the ransom? that´s what happens all the time. ;-)

What? Perhaps you’re getting bounties mixed up with ransoms?
