Pretty straightforward question : we killed a sansha MS tonight, and I salvaged it.
Some people have read on forums that having tech 2 salvagers would have an influence other the result of the salvage.
Would anybody know if that the case ? I read on numerous occasions on STC that having higher salvage skills was only increasing your chance of a sucessfull salvage, not the quality of the salvage by itself.
Would have CCP changed that since then ?

No, they have not changed it. If you don't get a message saying "your skills are insufficient to salvage/hack/analyse/whatever" then you will get full results when you eventually succeed.

I've been using the T2 salvager for a couple of months now and I haven't noticed anything other than the fact that I rarely see a fail message anymore.
I also haven't seen anything in any of the patch notes regarding it.
Having said that I haven't tried salvaging anything special like a Sansha Mothership although I have salvaged a few T2 and faction rat wrecks.
I expect this is a untrue rumour although it would be nice to find out they have hidden abilities!
I'd also have expected to have had a free Sansha Salvager from CCP than a Codebreaker if this were true.
Well I hope they don’t have hidden abilities, otherwise I fucked up our chance to get some nice salvage that seems to be reverse engineerable to some juicy stuff :D

It only affects the chance of salvage, not the quality of salvage.
the quality is randomized from a loot table (I think.)

Hence my asking here ;) So I can find peace at least :D Also could enlight some people around in best case scenario ;)
I doubt we have nearly enough stats to backup any reply regarding this anyway… unless someone salvaged “high end” with T1 salvagers ^^
