Size of modules / Rigs when packaged

Having trouble trying to figure out how big modules are in m^3 when packaged, for hauling, as i'd like to be able to use a stealth ops ship to ship in the parts for a legion build without getting ganked, but needing to know how much space is required for parts like pulse lasers and such Just wondering if i can get all that whilst packaged into a 170m^3 bay or not.. or i have to do 2 / 3 runs.

Nice edit, it’s much better to ask how to do something and learn from it rather than asking for someone else to do it for you :–)

Look at the module - Under the attributes tab there is an entry called volume.

Make a note of this value for what you wish to haul, multiply it where necessary and you'll have the cargo space required.

As a GENERAL rule of thumb small modules take 5m3, medium take 10m3 and large take 50m3.

Standard, ie. non-sized, modules like Cap Recharger or Target Painter will be 5m3.

Subsystems are 40m3 each in size.

If you need to also move the hull then you have a problem as the Legion hull is 118,000m3 even when packaged.

Actually, some meta 0 items are 25m3 even when other variations are just 5m3. As an example – resistive platings.

This is indeed true but I reaaaaaaly hope the OP isn’t going to be fitting meta 0 mods to his Legion! But good point, it is just a general rule-of-thumb.

Okay, just starting from the beginning.....I'm guessing you are new to the game from several of the things you said. By way of helping you become and sound more familiar with it, here are a few terms and tips in Eve you will want to know:

  1. There is no such thing as a "stealth" ops ship in Eve Online. :) There are "covops" ships, which can utilize stealth by fitting a covops cloak (or any other cloak, though the covops is best because it lets you warp and move at near full speed while cloaked).

  2. The things you listed are not called "parts" in Eve, they are called "modules". You can find out how much m3 each takes up by right clicking on the module and selecting show information. The volume indicates how much space the item takes up and will indicate if it has a separate volume for packaging it (in other words, whether or not it can be "packaged".)

  3. I have good news for you! If those modules are all you are moving, you really have no cause to be afraid of getting ganked under any normal circumstances as the total value of the cargo does not equal the value of a ganking ship. :) I started the game as a trader and had lots of experience with that. I suggest reading up on ganking and hauling right here, as there is so much good info out there!

Rather, if you are trying to fly those modules into losec or null, without a better foundation in this very complicated game, it is highly likely you will lose your ship, no matter what. I'm saying this not to insult you or because I don't think you can do it but to spare you an expensive, otherwise pointless loss that is not much fun. Some people in the game live for squashing the new guy and the helpless and will lie in wait. It's not the kind of thing you can just gloss over with a technical fix: using Battle Clinic to fit your ship will not save you or give you a chance to survive, just because you fit it with good or expensive "mods" (short for module).

I would strongly recommend getting some experience and familiarity with the game, perhaps at least running the tutorial, before risking one of the more expensive ships. Doing so will help teach you some of those basic things like where to find the "show info" selection for modules, and, believe me, you will need that knowledge and more, when you are in a tight spot. But all I can do is offer you my suggestion, my advice. Maybe that's not how you want to play the game, and I want to respect that. So, whatever you decide, good luck.

How are you supposed to learn unless you ask? No need to rip the OP to shreds in such an elitist fashion.

every makes mistakes don’t correct everything they write as long you know the meening of it

I didn’t cut anyone down, and I certainly didn’t “cut anyone to shreds”. Nothing I said was a personal attack. I answered his question and did so both completely and honestly. I told him where to find the information he’s seeking. I also told him about some real truths in this game concerning using purchased character, etc. Notice I told him good luck, whatever he decides. I just watched a corpmate go through 2 Tengus with a purchased character and another guy through 3 Proteuses. If I can spare somebody that loss, I will do so. I stand by my response 100%.

My “corrections” are the right I earned with the rep points I earned. Nothing I’ve said in any post has been anything less than courteous and on topic, and I will keep answering as I see fit.

You see my comments and make emotional judgments on me when I am making rational, non-personal statements. What you don’t see are the 228 up votes I’ve given out. And at least I have never given out a negative for an answer that is factually correct, like both of you have here.

In fairness, I thought your response was a little harsh and kind of like the thing I’d expect to see on the EVE-O forum. Perhaps you could edit it slightly? perception is, sadly, everything! Rash.

It might also be an idea to try and understand the criticism instead of making thinly veiled attacks against others in an attempt to justify what you’ve said. it doesn’t bother me either way, just my two pennies worth.

“…you seem to lack even a fundamental knowledge of the game…” – pointless statement

mymindisglowing

I don’t see how that’s a pointless statement. I’m trying to say it looks like this person might lack real life foundational skills in the game. I’ll try to edit it to be “nicer”. I usually write things very quickly from work.

Edit it as you say and I’ll will certainly give you your point back and delete my comments. I was actually most disappointed due to the fact that I usually like your posts.
