Skill training in-character explanation

Is there any official in-character explanation of training skills and skill queue? I need some name like “neuro-trainer” or “memetic implant” for device that actually does the training so I could use that name when roleplaying.

If you’re referring to the old learning skills (the ones that affect individual attributes), they’ve been removed.

There’s a booster item that was included in store-purchased versions of the game recently that adds to all attributes, but that item has no effect on any account over 30 days old.

Other than that, cybernetic implants for slots 1-5 are used to increase attributes. The Implants are:

  • Cybernetic Subprocessor
  • Memory Augmentation
  • Ocular Filter
  • Neural Boost
  • Social Adaptation Chip

The specialist implants such as the slave and crystal sets (for example) are also ones that have attributes that contribute to learning speed.

Sorry, that’s totally not related to the question I’ve asked. I’m interested in official in-game explanation of how the training itself works. Like “data being uploaded into pilot’s brain through <insert device name>” and other techno-babble.

richardson Is that written somewhere in official fiction? Since what I actually need to know is how the part which does the training called. So I could use that name in-character.

There are some really decent background stories at the main Eve Online site. I haven’t read them all, but I seem to vaguely remember one of them going over the implants a capsuleer is given that makes him a capsuleer. I think that is the closest you’ll get to an in-game explanation of the skill training process.

There are some half-decent scientific articles about cloning and capsuleers at the same location on the main site, too.

Thanks, I’ll try going through all the stories. I’ve read most of them but haven’t seen anything about implants. Only the pod itself.

I think the story was actually one of the books: “The Burning Life” by Hjalti Danielsson (the CCP guy who wrote a lot of the Chronicles short stories). I thought the book was an excellent walk around the various factions, and the main character’s plans towards the end of the book are probably the part where I think the implants were noted in a little detail.

Ah, well. I don’t have the book and I doubt I’ll have it soon given those shipment costs… I’d be happy to see the relevant quote though.

– damn, that means I have to read the book again or spend just as long as that skimming those last few chapters looking for the bits… but for the greater good I will put myself under duress. I shall report back in a while or two. Its available on kindle (which is also available on smart phones) which should ease shipping costs…

OK, the book has been read again in the interests of research, but the bit I was thinking of was a description of the process for getting out of a pod and re-adjusting to meat-body life. It didn’t mention the implants directly. So, the best bet is probably in the chronicles as I originally pointed out. Sorry.
