Tier 2 learning skills to lvl5

Is it worth to get the t2 learning skills (clarity focus etc) to lvl5? How long does it take to make up for the 13-14 day (training time from lvl4 to lvl5) spent on each of them?

If your going to be playing this game for the long run yes it can be worth training your basic learning skills to level 5 and Advance to level 4 or 5. The skills that have a higher training time multiplier then the skills will pay you back faster then skills that have a lower training time multiplier. At first the basic learning skills to level 3 or to level 4 at first is best to do and once your going to the longer skills train your basic learning skills to level 5 then advance skills

This directly depends on your long term plans. If you plan to play for at least 3 to 4 years, then yes. However, most players, even those with long term plans, are quite happy getting it to level 4.

it is worth it if you intend playing that character for 4+ years and be training it all the timne, however [and this is a big one] it is probably much better to get to level 4 on the basics and level 3 on the advanced early on [even ignoring the advanced ones for a bit] learn the skills you need to get the stuff you have to work [level 2 or 3] and fly the starter missions.

having 4/3 will be fine for a few months [then you know your staying around ]

remember plugging in a +3 implant is as good as 3 levels of skills....

also get evemon and check out a few skill plans and see what it suggests

As reported by myself in other similar questions on this site, for each advanced learning skill you train from level 4 to level 5, it will take 399 days training skills that require the improved attribute as primary to make back the time.

This seems an awful lot but I did the sums a hundred times with the same result.

But to reiterate the maths:

SP at level 4 of rank 3 skill: 135,765

SP at level 5 of rank 3 skill: 768,000

SP required for level 4 to 5: 632,235

+1 on an attribute with Learning V increases your SP per minute by 1.1, when training skills that require that attribute as primary, which equates to 1584 per day.

632,235 / 1584 = 399.138 days

You can double that if you are training skills that require the attribute as secondary.

Another way to look at the maths would be to take the cost of all the Learning to V (632,235 x 5 = 3,161,175) and that would get you 1.65 SP per minute (1 SP [for primary attribute] + ½ SP [for secondary] x 1.1 [assuming Learning is at V]).

This work that you will break even in 1,330 days (3 years, 33 weeks, 4 days and change).

(Though I do wonder if anyone in the history of Eve has trained Presence to V)

lol…stand up that single toon and be counted…after nearly 4 years playing, the only rank 3 I have taken to level 5 is Clarity for that all important perception. Cybernetics 5 is a much better time to benefit ratio but obviously that only really applies to high secers and the ultra rich.

There is a hard mathematical answer to your question. It is best determined by utilizing EveMon, which will tell you what training skills you should train when to save x amount of days. Do it. Do it.

To add. Train the Learning Skills, yes. However bear in mind that the rank 1/2 skills won't see any tangible benefit at level one to level four. There's no point spending a week training learning Skills for it to save you an few hours on Racial Frigates 4 when you could train Racial Frigate 4 in half a day and go out for some fun.

I'd rather have Racial Frigates 4 and be off pewpewing... you can then train your Learning Skills whislt you're out there playing hte game! It is up to you though, but I'd recommend you find a balance. Don't focus purely on Learning Skills and stay docked up at the expense of looking at ships and modules you'd like to use in the here and now.

EVEMON is a great tool, but any Learning Skills it suggests will always stack at the top of the plan. Don't worry about moving them around the other skills you want to train urgently!

If anything, the first thing you should do is get out and train cybernetics to level 1. Pop in some +3's and off you go!

On the long run, those learnings will make you go “pew pew” faster, it’s called invetment… of course for a newcomer “min-maxing” learnings will be a pain in the back.

But as far as the question is asked : yes, learnings are a must, although the highest levels will be hard to learn and “capitalize” from ;)

I would say, skill the basic learnings on 5 and the t2 on lvl 4. thats good for me and i hope for you too. like zeph said, you have to play 3 or 4 year to get the time back, that you lost with skilling ts learnings from 4 to 5.
