Vent explanation

What exactly is Vent? Is it some form of in game voice audio system for fleets? Does it seriously hamper performance?

Ventrilo and Teamspeak are normal windows applications that let you talk to people. These programs don't take up much system resources and shouldn't hamper game performance.

There is an in-game audio called eve voice, but it is used rarely. It's not as configurable as ts/vent, and stops working when eve disconnects you.

Vent has a mac version too, and Mangler works in linux. ts has native clients for windows, mac and linux.

Vent = Ventrilo.

Its like Teamspeak, but a bit smaller and I think not so powerful.

If you dont know what Teamspeka is: Ventrilo (and Teamspeak) are voice communication applications. You connect to a server where are other ppl and you can talk with them by using your headset. Mostly there are channels and you can go in the channel, you like to be. For Eve for example mining, rattiong, etc.

And yes, you can use it for fleets like many other aps:

Mumble Ventrilo Teamspeak Shockvoice

I Think there are much more apps, but that are the apps I know.
