What ammo should I use for missions?

What damage type should I use for which NPC faction and how can I tell which faction I will be facing for a mission?

Use this info to help you. Many people cut and paste it in their bio for quick access. You need to check the attributes of each ammo to see what damage type it does best. I don't run missions much but I seem to remember it saying somewhere what pirates you will be facing. Each area has it's own specific pirate gangs.

I think you’ll find that most Serpentis rats are weaker to Kinetic damage than Thermal.

Also note that only Rockets and Projectile weapons can use any damage type. Lasers and Hybrid turrets are confined to only dealing two. For projectile weapons (also lists the secondary benefits of each ammo. Order is by DPS):

  1. EMP - EM - Range -50%
  2. Phased Plasma - Thermal - Range -50%
  3. Fusion - Explosive - Range -50%
  4. Titanium Sabot - Kinetic - Tracking x1.2
  5. Depleted Uranium - Thermal/Explosive - -Tracking x1.2
  6. Proton - EM/Kinetic - Range+60% Tracking x1.05
  7. Nuclear - Explosive - Range+60% Tracking x1.05
  8. Carbonized Lead - Kinetic - Range+60% Tracking x1.05
