Many if not most missions have no ship restrictions. But often there are ship restrictions based on one’s level. Level 1’s allow one to use frigate sized ships. At one stage I could not use assault frigs for all – now I can. Don’t know when that changed.
What I wondered is what are the general ship restrictions for missions that don’t allow any ship – based on level?

I’m not aware of any “regular” Level 1-5 missions given by Agents that have ship restrictions.
Factional Warfare plexes do though:
If you meant the DED x/10 complexes, then:
1/10 Frigate
2/10 Destroyer
3/10 Cruiser
4/10 Battlecruiser
5+/10 Battleship

Many missions with deadspace pockets which require a gate to get in have restrictions on the ship.
but basicly if you warna be certain to get in everytime.
level 1 : t1 and t2 frigate t1 and t2 destroyer
level 2 : t1, t2 and t3Cruiser t1 and t2 bc
level 3 : t1 and t2 bc t1 and t2 bs
level 4 : everythign except capital ships
level 5 : everything except capital ships
if by chance you meant the DED x/10 complexes, then:

2/10 Destroyer
3/10 Cruiser
4/10 Battlecruiser
5+/10 Battleship
