What Combat orientated PVE is out there?

Asked by [ Editor ]

First an explanation of my circumstances.

I've been playing eve for just over a year. I spent about 3 months doing wormhole work and moved onto pvp. Fortunately, with some luck, I have managed to fund my pvp activities over time. However, I have now hit a brick wall and really need to get myself into some PVE in order to make isk.

Having spent virtually the entirety of my time in eve on pvp, I simply do not know what is out there in terms of PVE that will net a reasonable amount of isk. In addition, I have no idea what is involved in PVE (i.e. what you need, how it all works, etc etc).

On top of all of this, I am currently stuck in 0.5 or lower space. I plan to rat part time in lowsec in order to bring my security status up over time.

Would a kind soul help me out here with some information? If anyone is willing to take the time, I would really want a list of available PVE options (ignoring sec status... I will get back up to -1.9 eventually). Ideally, I would want a list together with a basic description of what is involved in doing the particular task at hand.

As a side note, I have enough isk to buy whatever ships or skills are required to do PVE. I'm a minmatar ship character only and I am not particularly interested in cross training. I can fly T2 BCs / HACs.

Here's the skinny on making money killing rats:

0.0 Complexes > 0.0 Anomalies > Top Wormholes > 0.0 Ratting > Missions

Speed blitzing L5 missions and L4 FW missions fits in with 0.0 Anomalies.

0.0 Plexes are the top end. You haven't lived untill you get hit by a 40,000 dmg EM torp. However they are easily doable provided you have some ship fitting and gang setup knowledge.

For instance i have a 2b isk Loki fit that tanks the 10/10 complexes with ease, it could tank everything spawning at once. U might think that 2b is crazy to fit on a ship. Well, maybe, but if the drops range from 500m to 4b, doesn't sound so bad.

Also note: many players spend a billion on their empire mission boats that only net them 30-40m from the best missions if they salvage.

Also, training into some fun stuff (SB, Recon, Black Ops) can provide a whole new way of looking and playing eve. You just have to be with some folks who know what they are doing.

All in all, it sounds like you need to get yourself into a good 0.0 Alliance.

Thanks. I’ve tried getting into 0.0 alliance, but tbh, they all sound pretty boring. I plan to take a second look soon.

You could also look to complexes that feed cosmos missions. Cosmos missions are "do-once-only" missions for a particular faction.

They usually involve entering a static complex in order to retrieve mission specific items, for example Okham's Head. All the rats respawn after a while so you can just sit there, killing the rats over and over collecting the item each time.

These items sell quite well on contracts to players who don't want to, can't or can't be bothered to collect them themselves.

This site has a reasonably good guide on Minmatar and Gallente Cosmos missions.

Run low end whs. C1 through C3 are easily found in lowsec and will bring you a pretty good income given you salvage wrecks.

just remember to scout out the wh first. If it's empty of active pilots then go farm :P if you see active pilots in the wh, it's prob best not to continue.

Also while you are scanning for whs you will come across plexes. Run these as the loot can be great from them and if they escalate you could pull in some serious isk.

So i guess the short answer is to scan in lowsec :)

Could you tell me what Plexes are? Are they different from ded sites? How so? Thanks for the answer.

Some of the plexes are ded rated (1/10, 2/10, 10/10). Some arent. I consider plexes to be anything you have to scan down to find although there are “static” plexes littered throughout all the systems in high and lowsec.

The static plexes are usually highly farmed and have a lot more traffic since anyone can warp to it and run it.

This isnt to say that the plexes needed to be scanned down are safe by any means. They just dont see as much traffic.

and i should add that the static plexes dont despawn when someone runs them. The scan down plexes will despawn shortly after someone runs them
