There are several places you can look. Eve has a recruitment channel that spams advertisements. There is also a recruitment channel on the eve forums and on other message boards.

My advice is to ask folks in the game. If you like to mine and you come across a mining op, check their bio and look at their corp. Read the description. It may be something that you are interested in. Same with missioners. Don't be afraid of jumping around if the corp you end up joining isn't what you thought it would be.

If you are new to the game join EVE university. They have many experienced player that will teach you how to play well. Also many prestigious corporations recruit straight from the ranks of EVE university.

EVE University is a good starting point if you have no clue where to go at first.

As others have said, check out EvE University.

But to answer your question, there are a few places to search Corporations. The eve forums has a Corp recruitment forum, there is a Corp search tool in game, and then there is the Corp recruitment channel. Google is also another option, simply searching for "Eve corporation" will get you plenty of usable results.

Eve University is a good place to start to learn the huge variety in PVE (and, IIRC, surviving high-sec wars), or Open University of Celestial Hardship (OUCH) if you prefer PVP and nullsec survival.

Or as already mentioned, if you spot someone doing something you are interested in doing yourself, just strike up a conversation with them in the local channel or private conversation. (Sometimes, the CSPA charge is worth paying for!) Most people in game are usually friendly unless you are stealing their stuff.

Like the people above have said I would just like to reinforce it, join EVE University ( http://www.eve-ivy.com/ )

If you have no idea what you are looking to do the Uni is a great place to start. I was with them for 4 months and I learned a lot.

But just keep in mind you only get back as much as you are willing to put in. So if you aren't active within the corp you will find yourself sitting around still not knowing what you want to do.

Outside of the Uni finding a corp can be a bit daunting since there are so many and it's hard to find one that's right for you.

Unlike a lot of games, in EVE joining a group of players is more of a serious thing, so expect it to take some time before you find what you are looking for. Remember there are always corps recruiting and you can always check the EVE Forums recruitment section.
