What exactly are structural hit points?

Reinforced bulkheads increase structural hit points, but what exactly are these? Does the increase only apply to the hull or does it effect both hull and armor?

Structural hit points are your hull. The increase from this mod only applies to your hull.

Rash.

This however can lead to some interesting fits. Like Hull buffer tanking for instance.

but when your hull is damaged, so is your modules right?… so hull tanking doesn’t sound like the best of ideas…

I believe Gallente were originally meant to Hull Tank…!

I believe they tank with sellotape and cardboard.

To deantwo: no, the only way to damage your modules directly is to overheat them, which requires the thermodynamics skill in order to quelch more efficiency out of them (eg better rate of fire for hybrid guns).

Having your hull damaged doesn't damage anything else than your hull... and your nerves ^^

[I know this should be in a comment. Can't post comments. Bla bla.]

This isn’t completely right. Seen it myself with my nighthawk at round 3% of structure intact, modules are taking damage as well without overheating them (i can’t overheat them – i locked this “feature” after I successfully (and unintentionally) fried a shield booster)

I suspected as much but wasn’t sure. It’s not often I end up in structure without dying :P
