What faction rat gives the best salvage

Of all the pirate rats in eve (guristas, angel, serpentis, sanshas, blood raiders) what one gives the most valuable salvage on average with lvl 5 salvaging skills.

I don't know how up to date this site is, or even if the salvage values have changed much at all in the past several years, but http://eve.podzone.net/wsdb/?type=L4&fid=0&filter=wsm&op=list indicates that sansha and blood raider are the best pirate factions to go after in the hunt for armour plates. Armour plates are the best ISK-valued salvage in most regions.

As far as I understand it, your salvaging skill only dictates how quickly you can salvage the wrecks rather than how much you get. You will get the same salvage over all, but low skills mean it takes more cycles of the salvager before you finally dig it out or you give up. I think some wrecks (as Rashmika points out) can't be salvaged at all unless you have a certain level of salvaging.

I can confirm that some high level officer wrecks etc. require a certain level of salvaging skill, causing me to miss out on their juicy, potentially faction drop. :(

Salvaging, to my understanding, is not determined much by faction. The various salvage may change some, drones with drone rig pieces and Blood Raiders with armor rig pieces, but the chances of actually getting salvage in a wreck is constant across the board.

Hi Nathan. Faction and T2 wrecks have a higher level of difficulty in terms of retrieving salvage.

Hi, the meta level of the wreck does affect the process cycle of salvaging. T2 (meta 5) and upwards require a higher level of skill training or the complimentary use of Salvaging Rigs in order to reduce the level of access difficulty.

Hi, to answer your quetion of which faction rat drops the best salvage, anything that drops Intact Armour Plates!

Plus, the way you phrased the question kinda hints at this, so I apologise if you already know this... however the salvaging skill level does not influence the quantity or the quality of any salvage gained. Yes, you do need it trained to a certain level to salvage T2/faction ships but it is not level 5! I believe level 3 and a salvaging rig can do it.

Training the skill higher It only improves your chance of savlaging something from the wreck by reducing the "difficulty of access". It also gives you access to T2 salvager mods.

Further to the above; Intact Armour Plates are the T2 variant of Armour Plates. I suspect that with whatever faction drops Armour Plates, you’ll find their Faction spawns will have a chance of dropping the respective T2 salvage.

You’ll probably find that the Angel faction spawns will give you the best salvage… that said, I’ve had all sorts drop from Rogue Drone Commanders, but that type is a lottery.
