What is cherry picking?

I've heard this term thrown around the forums once or twice and wondered what it is? and how to go about it?

As far as i can gather its something to do with mission running.

Hopefully someone can help me.

Thanks

Cherry picking means only doing the most profitable thing and leave the rest up to grabs for someone else.

In missioning: - only picking the 'good' loot (meta 4 items, valuable items) and leave the rest in the ship wrecks - only salvage BS and BC and not salvage frigs and cruisers

In ratting: - only shooting BC and BS because they are worth much more than the other rats

In making isk out of loot: - sell the high value stuff and reprocess the rest for minerals

In life: - talk to the good-looking girls and not with their uglier 'attachments'/friends :-)

Have fun!

Cherry picking is the act of pointing at individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position, while ignoring a significant portion of related cases or data that may contradict that position.

The term is based on the perceived process of harvesting fruit, such as cherries. The picker would be expected to only select the ripest and healthiest fruits. An observer who only sees the selected fruit may thus wrongly conclude that most, or even all, of the fruit is in such good condition.

So as MegabitOne correctly stated only taking the best and leaving the rest
