What is ninja salvaging?

And how do I do it?

Ninja salvaging is also known as the art of tear extraction. You use probes to scan down mission runners in popular mission hubs. Once you scan down a mission runner, you can slip into their mission, and start salvaging wrecks. You don't get flagged for salvaging wrecks, but if you loot the wreck, or the container that dropps when you salvage the wreck, you will get flagged, and the mission runner may open fire on you.

Some wrecks are better than others, too. Mission generic wrecks are crap, and if I remember correctly, Angels wrecks are the best. When salvaging in an active mission, especially if the mission runner is salvaging himself, remember to go for the larger wrecks first. They'll drop better salvage.

Serpentis salvage sucks. However the loot is pretty decent.

There are many systems that are good for this. The trick is locating where there are many high level agents available. Check your eve map for number of faction ships killed in 24 hours. This will give you a good idea of the active systems.

Motsu and Dodixie are very good for this.

You need scanning skills to scan down the mission runner. When you've found the "target" bookmark the site and return in a fast ship with some cargo space and steal his loot and/or salvage his wrecks. The Minmatar Probe frigate is a good choice.

For more focus on tear extraction, intentionally loot a wreck if the missioneer is present. If he opens fire you are allowed to defend yourself: escape, bring a PVP ship (appropriate based on his ship and the NPCs he was fighting), scram his mission boat and proceed to kill or ransom the poor carebear. Missioneers frequently gimp their mission ships with faction or even officer mods - they might drop making your ninja salvage run very lucrative. Review piracy guide here first though - things you need to know before attempting.
