What % of your hull price should your modules cost?

As you move up in ship classes, from frigate->cruiser->bs and beyond, the cost of your hull forms a much higher % of your fitted ship. Assuming standard t2 pvp fits:

  • 23mil battlecruiser might fit 10mil in modules. (43%)
  • 65mil battleship might fit 25mil in modules. (38%)

I know these are very rough numbers. By this argument, does it imply that HAC’s priced ~100mil should be fitted with 1-2 cheap faction mods (~30mil in modules, speed/web/point/neut or whatever your HAC is terrific at)? Taking this even further, should a 700mil carrier spend 200-300mil in all faction mods?

The amount you should spend in modules is loosely dependent on the ship's hull cost. Some mission runners might fit 2 billion ISK worth of faction and officer mods on their 800 million ISK battleships. Older players fit T1 frigates with tech II modules worth ten times the hull cost. But in general, as the ships themselves get more expensive the cost of mods become 'cheaper' by comparison.

My PVP BC:s usually fit avout 40 m modules on a 25 m hull.

That ratio is about the same as on my stealth bomber, and also my PVE Tengu.

By my calculations above, you should be far better served by training for a HAC/faction cruiser asap. You clearly need a 100mil hull to balance the cost of your modules :)
