You have three characters. Make use of that -- BEFORE you recruit ANYBODY else, spend plenty of time experimenting with the various roles and permissions that you as a Director can assign to corp members. Lather, rinse, and repeat until you can lecture on corp roles in your sleep. :) Do this now -- seriously. You'll thank yourself later.
Next, transfer all shares from the corp wallet to your own wallet. It's easy to forget this -- and then down the road, someone finally earns wallet privileges, only to make off with the shares, vote themselves CEO, and boot you into space (taking all your hard work with them).
Finally, make sure your CSPA charge is set to zero. It's a huge turn-off if potential corpies have to pay to get in touch with you.
As for actual recruitment, there are about as many strategies as there are corporations, and I can't really say that there's a "best one." Personally, when I was looking to switch corps I spent days sifting through the Recruitment Forum looking for adverts that seemed to match what I was after. I definitely recommend dropping a thread i there and KEEPING IT BUMPED so folks can see it. I wouldn't spend much time in the in-game Recruitment Channel however, because there's no easy way to make your corp stand out, or maintain much permanency like you can with a forum thread.
Whatever you do, be honest and sincere about what your corp is and what it can offer. Too many corps offer "industry AND pve AND pvp AND basketweaving AND ..." everything else you can offer. As a new corp, you should have a focus and it should be whatever you personally are good at. PLAY THIS UP -- if you wanna PvP, then advertise yourself as looking for PvPers. If you want to mine and manufacture, advertise yourself as looking for industrialists. Don't be afraid to turn away people who "aren't really into" whatever you're doing -- even if they're eager to learn. With such a small corp, you're probably not going to want to spend time teaching, at least not until you've got a few veterans affiliated to help spread that load.
In the same vein, be honest about what you can offer. If you've got an overstuffed wallet and you can afford to supply unlimited T1 frigs for your members, great -- but don't start talking that up if you're still trying to finance your own play. If you've got a POS with laboratory slots, great -- if it's just one of those things you want to do "someday," don't make it sound like you've got the tower sitting in your hold, waiting to be deployed. Nothing will upset people more than coming into a corp and realizing their expectations were off from the beginning.
All that said, there are plenty of folks out there who really dig the small corp dynamic and would love to help you get something really great going. It may take you a while to find them, but be persistent and keep bumping that forum thread. Good luck!
